Casimiro Perez-Alvarez
Lawman of the Rio Grande: Casimiro Perez-Alvarez
A Deputy U. S. Marshal from Rio Grande City, Casimiro Perez-Alvarez upheld federal law in deep South Texas during the turbulent early 1900s. Artifacts, photos, and documents relating to his role as a lawman are on exhibit. The items are from a large collection donated by his grand-daughter-in-law, Mrs. Araceli Perez-Davis of San Antonio, and other family members. Casimiro Perez-Alvarez also was a Starr County rancher, farmer, educator, newspaper publisher, and Postmaster in Rio Grande City. A life-long Republican Party member, he helped focus attention on the concerns of the Valley’s Mexican-Texan citizens.
