Guillermo Calles: Mexican Cinema; August 8 2-4pm
A Mexican-born actor, director, and producer from the 1920’s to the 1950’s, Guillermo Calles was a pioneer. In 1912, he became the first Mexican actor to appear in films made in California. Despite limited resources, Calles began directing and producing his own movies, and in 1929 introduced the production of Spanish-language films. Rogelio Agrasanchez will present and autograph his latest book Guillermo Calles: A Biography of the Actor and Mexican Cinema Pioneer, which traces Calles’ career from his early Hollywood days through the 1950’s.body {margin:8px} .LW-yrriRe {font:normal x-small arial}
