Día de los Muertos: Recuerdos y Ofrendas has been celebrated at the Museum of South Texas History with great pride and reverence for its cultural relevance and community appreciation.

The museum is partnering with the City of Edinburg to host Los Muertos Bailan Block Party: A Day of the Dead Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

However, this page features a few digital productions that were created in 2020. These digital productions are timeless for its richness in traditions and information.

Once again, thank you for being a supporter of the Museum of South Texas History.

Digital Altar Exhibit

The Museum of South Texas History presents the Digital Altar Exhibit, a digital space where family and friends can remember loved ones who have since departed. Watch the video below to learn how to participate, where to find the submission form and how the data will be used for research.

If you would like to memorialize a family member or friend, please visit the Digital Altar Exhibit page here. Submissions will be sent to the Margaret H. McAllen Memorial Archives.

Día de los Muertos Altar

The home altar is a staple of Día de los Muertos celebrations, and it includes several elements such as water, flowers and photographs. Museum staff will provide key elements and their origins and significance.
