An Evening with FRIENDS with Frank Yturria

September 20, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The Board of Trustees and staff of MOSTHistory will welcome Dr. Frank Yturria of Brownsville as special guest author and speaker for An Evening with FRIENDS. Invitations to this event are extended to current FRIENDS of MOSTHistory; however, anyone who wishes to become a FRIEND or renew a lapsed FRIENDship prior to the event is welcome to attend this special evening.

Dr. Yturria has written a new book, “The Amazing Life of a South Texas Cowboy.” It is a memoir of his fascinating and adventurous life. From working cattle on his grandfather Francisco Yturria’s Punta del Monte Ranch to meeting royalty and heads of state, Yturria still describes himself simply as a South Texas cowboy.

Frank Yturria has worn many hats in his lifetime. He has donned those of an oilman, banker, soldier, officer, public servant, restauranteur, scholar, world traveler and wildlife conservationist. He has even been a rodeo cowboy and a polo player. He is a philanthropist to a number of organizations whose missions he supports, like historical preservation. His adventurous nature has driven him to develop an amazing array of interests over a lifetime, and he has not yet stopped.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., guests will gather at MOSTHistory to meet Dr. Yturria and enjoy his presentation. Following his remarks, he will be on hand to autograph copies of his book. The book will be on sale in the Museum Store for $75 or $67.50 for FRIENDS, plus tax. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be offered to guests while mingling with FRIENDS.

To become a FRIEND of MOSTHistory or renew a lapsed FRIENDship, call Assistant Development Officer Cedar Risica, 383-6911, and have your credit card ready. FRIENDS of MOSTHistory who plan to attend are asked to call the museum at the same number for an advance reservation. Whether you plan to attend or cannot do so, copies of the book may be reserved by calling Development Officer/Museum Store Manager Lynne Beeching, 383-6911.
