MOSTHistory Happy Hour: Talk Like a Texan

September 13, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

MOSTHistory Happy Hour is a two-hour event that welcomes young professionals, history enthusiasts and the young at heart to engage in the museum’s exhibits with interactive games, a presentation by local historians and tasting craft beer provided by L&F Distributors and local breweries. Each event highlights a different historical theme that ranges from prehistoric to contemporary.

During this event, you and guests will hear about Texan lingo from W.F. Strong, a professor, writer and famous podcast host of “Stories from Texas.” According to his website, “[y]ou’ll hear his inimitably Texan voice in your mind’s ear as he weaves stories on subjects ranging from how to talk Texan to Texas bards and troubadours; from tall Texas tales to Lone Star icons like Charles Goodnight, Tom Landry and Blue Bell ice cream; from legends and heroes of the past to some heartfelt memories of his own.” This short presentation may leave you feeling nostalgic and, possibly, talkin’ like a Texan. Copies of his book will be available for purchase at The Museum Store.

Sample beers provided 5×5 Brewing Co. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Beverages are served by Happy Hour FRIENDs, the Landmark Lounge and Ignite Lounge. MOSTHistory Happy Hour guests can keep their wristbands from the event and present at either the Landmark Lounge or Ignite Lounge to receive 20% off that same night.

Admission is $15 for the general community and $10 for FRIENDS of MOSTHistory. If you are interested in becoming a FRIEND of MOSTHistory, please contact Cedar Risica, the assistant development officer, at 956-383-6911 or send an e-mail to crisica@mosthistory.org. This special event is for individuals 21 and over.
