Winter Texan Wednesday: Weber and Jackson Family Legacies

February 21, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Museum of South Texas History welcomes northern visitors from across the Rio Grande Valley with its new Winter Texan Wednesday series. This bimonthly program, scheduled from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., will introduce guests to the museum and its select stories from our region.

Museum staff will guide visitors through a short tour of the galleries which will highlight a different part of the exhibit. Following the tour, visitors will be invited to the Courtyard Gallery. Once settled, staff and guests speakers will lecture further on the topic of choice.

Winter Texan Wednesday series is included in the regular museum admission fee. Adults (18-61) $7 and Seniors (62+) $5. This presentation is not available for group tours and no reservations are required. For group tours, please contact the Education Department at 956-383-6911 or e-mail mrodriguez@mosthistory.org

ABOUT THIS PRESENTATION
While African-American slave labor fueled cotton plantations in the American South and the rest of Texas, the Rio Grande Valley became a refuge for interracial families such as the Webers and Jacksons. Follow a mini-guided tour of the River Highway exhibit followed by a presentation featuring Roseann Bacha-Garza, a professor from UTRGV, who will discuss the legacy of these two ranching families and how they found their home in South Texas.
