Winter Texan Wednesday – Edinburg: Then and Now

December 5, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Explore the history of early Edinburg with an exclusive look at the “Edinburg: Then and Now” exhibit curated by Senior Historian Tom Fort and Associate Education Officer Joseph Fox. This temporary exhibit features side-by-side comparisons between historic photos of early buildings in Edinburg and recent photos showing what these sites are today. The crown jewel of the exhibit is a 1925 panoramic photo taken from the top of the Cook-Everett building, which perfectly captured the town of Edinburg and the surrounding countryside. This picture was recreated for the exhibit using a camera attached to a drone, and it showcases changes that have occurred over 100 years of the All-America City’s existence. Joseph Fox will lead the multimedia presentation in the Courtyard Gallery and guide a mini-tour of the exhibit in the Classroom gallery.

Winter Texan Wednesday is included in the regular museum admission fee: Adults (18+) $7; Seniors (62+) $5. Museum admission also includes access to the signature Rio Grande Legacy exhibition. For more information, please contact the museum at 956-383-6911.
