Come Fly Away at ¡FANDANGO! 2013 at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12

The Museum of South Texas History will host ¡FANDANGO!, its annual fundraising auction at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12. This evening of fast-paced auction fun and savory dinner is one of the longest running events of its kind in the Valley. Funds raised will support MOSTHistory’s annual operations and provides for the museum’s preservation and education programs. Individual tickets, in addition to Reserved Tables for 10 persons, are now on sale through Oct. 4, and the auction catalogue can be viewed in advance at MOSTHistory.org. The dinner auction event will include drawings, a silent auction, a blackboard auction and a live auction with items ranging from artwork to a zoo excursion and everything in between — including a once in a lifetime Super Bowl XLVIII experience — ensuring there is something special for everyone.

Inspired by Valley aviation history, this year’s Come Fly Away theme celebrates the “Air Age” and promises an evening of just “plane” fun. Individual tickets are $100 per person, Reserved Tables for ten persons are $1,000 and provides a dinner and beverages, including a signature cocktail called the B-24 Liberator, a combination of lemonade, blueberry juice and Texas Rum made with Valley sugarcane. The  First Class menu includes beef tenderloin, tomato and cumin braised tomatoes, green beans almondine and chocolate blackout cake. Before dinner, auction guests can participate in the Air Mail Express bucket drawings, the Sky Mall silent auction and the Now Boarding Blackboard Auction. Following dinner, guests will find themselves in The Sky’s The Limit Live Auction. Altogether there are 200 wide-ranging items available for bidding. Auction participants will be sure they are flying First Class due to the generous donations that include mountain and spa getaways, a safari-style hunting trip and even a Super Bowl XLVIII package that includes a three-night stay in New York City’s Theater District.

Gail Cappadona and Vicki Skaggs will be your co-pilots for the event. Assisting them will be crew members Melissa Baldree, Diann Bartek, Carola Chapa, Dusty Davenport, Patsy de los Santos, Mariella Gorena, Teresa Hunter, Sharon McGhee, Stephanie Moore, Kathleen Pebley, Ann Phillips, Myrna Rodriguez, Kurt Schuster and Tyler Stone. For more information, or to purchase your tickets, stop by MOSTHistory in downtown Edinburg at 200 North Closner Boulevard on the Hidalgo County Courthouse square or call Development Officer Lynne Beeching at 1-956-383-6911. Then, fasten your seatbelt and Come Fly Away to enjoy an evening of good food, great friends and just “plane” fast-paced auction fun, all to benefit your community history museum, the Museum of South Texas History.
