This annual event will kick off with the first-ever museum Easter Hat Parade!

Bring out your most unique and decorated hats to celebrate the spring season with us! We will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Grand Lobby and parade around the museum grounds in celebration of the cultural and historical traditions of Easter that are observed in South Texas.

The first 20 people to sign up will receive a coupon for a free Raising Cane’s Kids Combo! Special thanks to Raising Cane’s! Participants and their families also receive free admission to the museum before 12 p.m. on the same day. Regular admission applies after 12 p.m.

Fill out the form below to register.

WHAT KIND OF HATS ARE ALLOWED?
Bring your finest hat, make your own, or find one at thrift or vintage store! The long-held tradition of Easter “bonnet” parades refers to the shift from winter to spring hats, which tend to be more colorful, whimsical and large or “Sunday’s best.”

The Museum of South Texas History hosted a ¡Cascarón! Workshop in 2020, which features additional guidance and historical traditions of decorating cascarónes, the Easter tradition of coloring eggs.
